WHY I SAY THANK YOU

I'm not a war monger, I don't go around saying let's bomb this place and that place all to hell. I wish that conflicts could be settled through communication but human nature prohibits that. I am still very thankful for veterans and today, on this veteran't day I say thanks. Veterans have always primarily fought because of an intense belief in the idea that the whole world deserves to be free of oppression.

Veterans do fight for the idea of democracy, every veteran I have met has always expressed a belief in making things right for others. Let's face facts, for every imperfection in our society, America on its worst day is still a gold standard. No, there is no perfect system, but considering the opportunities we have in this country, we can't really complain.

Every veteran is also willing to sacrifice a part of themselves in combat, something not everyone can really begin to comprehend. I never spent a day in a field of battle so I will never make a derogatory statement about a veteran, like so many idiots tend to do. People need to remember that veterans don't go into conflict with agendas, veterans are not politicians.

On this day, even if you don't believe in conflict, don't attack someone for doing what you never would. It's important to be grateful, servicemen and women often make a sacrifice that carries a high price and an almost non existent reward. There are reasons to say thank you to our veterans, too many of them to mention. Today I suggest a thank you because it's the least that can be done and lets our veterans know we understand what they gave up.

FANATICAL PEOPLE

I consider myself a fairly level headed individual most of the time. I respect people's opinions and beliefs but I don't particularly respect the concept of pushing beliefs onto others. I really dislike that whole concept of " what I believe is absolute and impossible to challenge." To me people that have that view are the very personification of ridiculous fanatics. I have a fascination with fanatical people and their this skin. I mean how in the hell can you go wrong when you challenge the narrow minded fanatic?

The hotest button is religion and it's also the best one to push in order to test the skin of a fanatic. I recently wrote an entry taking aim at a Cardinal banned from the church. I got a lot of comments and most of them were attacking me for not kissing the ass of the good Cardinal. The fact is that I don't kiss ass so much as I like to point out truths. A fanatic does not see reason or valid points beyond their own beliefs.

I love how a fanatic will defend their religion, political stands, and ideas without real base. A fanatic will stick with a narrow minded point of view will until they feel they have convinced you to see things their way. I remember this woman by the last name of Kang calling me delusional. I wonder if she understands the meaning of delusional or if she was actually pick crap out of the dictionary without reading the definition. How am I delusional if I don't see things your way?

A fanatic is a wonderful thing when you think of the entertainment their stupidity provides. I will always enjoy pushing fanatical buttons because frankly I enjoy it almost as much as I enjoy eating shrimp.

THE MORNING AFTER

You ever get that "holly shit feeling" after you connect with a person in an intimate way? To me that is the most hilarious thing in the world, that "oh shit, what did I do?" feeling. I have never gotten that particular feeling because I've never done the hookup thing at any point in my life. I do know people that have done that and it's funny as hell. The facial expressions alone are incredible even after the fact. The big wide eyed look that say " I don't know what I did but I know it wasn't good at all." That look is usually coupled with a question of whether or not someone is pregnant and if there is some manner of herpes involved.

Once the initial shock wears off you wonder what you did and that's even funnier. The questions are usually "Okay so I was drinking and then what?" Then you wonder if your parents know and you wonder what your friends know and who said what to who. The closest I have ever come to that feeling is getting so drunk at one party that I bit walls and made animal noises. I was told that I kicked over a kitty litter box and made a kitty litter sculpture. I think it's a wonderful thing that the cat had yet to establish his territory in said when I decided to kicked the box.

As far as the hookup goes there is that worry that you were left with some sort of dirty funk. The morning after is one of life's wonders so respect it and enjoy it. The morning after happens to almost everyone so please don't hate yourself when you reek of sex and shame.

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS IS BULLSHIT

I am writing what it is everyone is thinking. Political correctness is total bullshit no matter how you cut it. I think that the idea has become so big in society today that we have lost sight of the difference between being correct in expression and being ridiculous. It's one thing to be a racist, color your statements about things with ignorant remarks, and another to actually express your feelings without the feeling of boundaries cornering you. Today the PC bullshit has taken a turn for the insane in ways that are both amusing and annoying.

You can't refer to someone as a midget, or refer to a tall person in a way that may make fun of their height. The word ho is automatically associated with calling a female a prostitute. You can't say black out loud for fear that the mere mention of color may make someone mad. No one in this world is perfect and if you are not intentionally trying to offend a person I think society needs to have some fucking leniency. I don't understand why a person should be allowed to press assault charges if I tell them to go fuck themselves. Do you know that Ho is actually an acronym with several different meanings?

I am not saying that it's okay to insult people but I will say that if someone pushes the wrong buttons they deserve to be told exactly they can do regardless of race, creed, color or gender. I don't care if a catholic priest decides he wants to judge me because I can proceed to ask said priest why there are so many pedophiles at the helm of the church. I know you are wondering where this is coming from when I just wrote about the universal force of love.

I am honest enough and have enough common sense to distinguish between reality and serious bullshit. I am not saying for people to go out and act like total assholes I am just saying that common sense in expression is not something that should be hindered by the thought of overly sensitive people taking offense to every little statement made.

THE LOVE JOURNEY

I used to think that the whole "LOVE" thing was more of a stoner mantra than anything else. I respect people as a rule of thumb and I respect whatever their choices are even if said choices differ from my own. I am sure you are probably wondering why there is a picture of a cannabis leaf in this entry. I will explain that in a minute so please hold on to your commentary.

I was at the metro in Amsterdam one night after a night of discovering the treasures of the city. I was fresh off a delicious meal in an Argentine steakhouse and on my way to a pleasant slumber. I remember that night so clearly. The sky was clear and the air was cold, a December night lit up by trees, light, street music and the feeling of Christmas. I remember I felt uncomfortable with my outfit because I hate wearing layers and restrictive style clothing.

As I sat and looked out the window of the metro I was asked if I was a tourist. The person that asked me the question was a brit with a backpack and a look of immense joy. The fella started asking me what I thought about marijuana and I answered as best I could. I remembered saying that I never felt it really did harm to anyone. The man handed me a card with some drawing and the word LOVE on it. I remember the card looked like a mixture of rorschach's work and ramblings of stoner artist.

Curious I asked my British stoner friend what it was and he responded with " It's life and the answer." I recall that I smiled and proceeded to leave without giving it a second thought. The brit offered me the opportunity to smoke some weed with him but I was not interested so i shook his hand and told him to enjoy himself. When I arrived at my destination I looked at the card and every part drawn in black had a line that resembled  a long and winding road. I thought about what the stoner said for a few days.

I realized that what my burnout friend meant was that love can really solve anything and guide you through some of the hardest roads to travel. I know that love is something we like to associate with hippies, stoners, and weaklings. The fact of the mater is that there is nothing wrong with allowing a little love to penetrate our jaded souls because in the end all the material possessions, bitterness, and differences we have do not accompany us to the grave. Love is the universal force that we are born with, live with, and can chose to go on our never ending journey with. Let's love one another people because it isn't a stoner mantra so much as it is the only absolute reality in life.

DOWN SYNDROME IS ALSO REAL HONESTY

Down syndrome is often looked at by the massively ignorant as a handicap. I understand that there are serious limitations that hamper the possibility of a thoroughly independent life for those with down syndrome. I do have to say that people show a thorough lack of understanding in terms of the full scope of down syndrome when they talk about all the so called negative aspects of it.

I recently had a chance to interact with a boy that has down syndrome. The boy was an inspiration to me. Due to health issues as a child he did not have fully developed speech but he did look like he could play any sport with the greatest of ease and skill. The boy was loving, respectful, honest, and extremely well behaved. There was something more about this boy that really stuck out to me and that was the purity of his spirit.

Whenever I interacted with this boy he would ask me to see what he was doing as a way to share with me. I remember him illustrating what he was doing and how he was doing it. To this boy there was a beauty in even the simplest things. We can learn from people with down syndrome about so many things. A kid with down syndrome does not have an affliction but a way to appreciate the beauty of simplicity, love without lies and hypocrisy. I respect and revere people with down syndrome not because of what they deal with but because of the grace they overcome it with.

THE FAUX PHILOSOPHER

I love people that call themselves philosophers because they profess to have a vast knowledge of everything. I seem to run into people that love to just spew knowledge like sewage and venom. I really enjoy hearing how the sky is not really blue but rather a reflection of our thoughts. It seems like the less you look the more likely you are to find a self appointed philosopher ready to give you some sort gem about life.

My favorite kind of philosopher is the peace, love, and understanding philosopher. This is the kind of person that will write and speak in redundant fashion without realizing it. You hear statements about brotherhood and staying strong and it's usually one load of shit coupled with another load to make a super load. I really enjoy the part about how peace is found from within rather than through outside sources. I have read the thing about peace from within since I could read so every time someone puts it on their Facebook I have to laugh a little bit. Of course the peace, love, and brotherhood person is not
the only philosopher I know.

There is a philosopher that I love to listen to and that is the religious philosopher. There is something special about this type of philosopher that makes me smile. The religious philosopher is stern and stands by his or her nonsensical type principles that really make you examine absolutely nothing at all. I hear words about the existence of a cadre of spiritual unrelated figures and so on and so forth. The religious philosopher will always have a chip on the shoulder because what he or she says not only makes little sense but also it  doesn't have a strong merit base. Philosophers love to share every bit of knowledge that they can and they come in all shapes, sizes and disciplines.

In the end these "philosophers" are nothing more self righteous and insecure morons without any depth whatsoever. I will always enjoy reading the pearls of wisdom from faux philosophers because I need some entertainment to keep myself relaxed and amused.

IMAGINE 2013

John Lennon sang about no hell below us and above us only sky in the timeless Imagine. I think John was on to something. Today we rely on too much religion, too much war, too much freedom, but realy what do we have from it? I think that is a rhetorical question with an obvious answer.

Perhaps I am developing late Woodstock reflux and I am ready to break out the daisies with some colorful shirts and bubbles. I think though that I am more a broken spirit wondering why so many people have to die without any dam sense whatsoever. We fight wars for years that only hurt the lives of those noble enough to make the sacrifice for self and country. Here at home we fail to fight the wars that would avoid tragedies like the one in Sandy Hook Elementary.

Imagine if in 2013 religious figures stuck to just spreading the word for their respective religions and quit the bullshit and sanctimonious pandering they seem to be so good at. I wonder if it's possible to imagine a 2013 without war and mass death. I guess we are all so jaded that it's impossible to imagine this but just for a minute to see it like that makes the world good again.

VIOLENCE BORES ME

You know something? I am so sick of violence in general. I abhor people that think in their tiny minds that they are somehow better because they can either shoot a gun or beat someone senseless. I am still yet to understand the primal human need to see who can piss a longer stream in the jungle. The truth of the matter is that no matter what you do or how inadequate you feel, acts of violence will not make you a better person. Let me go point by point on the things that bother me the most in this world of ours.

  • Violence Against Women- A man thinks that by beating a woman he establishes himself as king shit. Please go take care of your micro penis complex in a psychiatrist couch you don't impress anyone. If you are tough try wrestling an alligator down in the bayou.
  • Violence Against Children- Men or women do not have the right to rob children of their few precious years of love and innocence. The fact is children are born pure of heart and mind and none of us have the right to screw that up.
  • Violence Related to Drugs- Anytime drugs are involved someone is shot, wounded, or completely fucked in some unimaginable way. The problem with this type of violence is that it does not always affect people directly or indirectly involved with drugs.
  • Violence in Protest- Again this is the type f thing that does not need to happen. Martin Luther King protested segregation with non violence and he changed the view of an entire country. Gandhi preached non violence and stands as the type of figure whose understanding of sacrifice really encouraged a whole movement.
The fact of the matter is that when you hurt someone or you commit an act of violence to prove some ill guided point you accomplish not a damn thing. If you are violent by nature please grow up because your sort is boring and beyond stupid.

RELATIONSHIPS ARE HELL

I have never ventured into relationship territory because relationships in general so broad and varied that truthfully it would take a million entries to be able to talk about what makes relationships and what breaks them. There are so many issues to really look at with relationships. There are issues to consider like cultural backgrounds, religious ideals, thoughts on politics, and a million other things.

When relationships are good it seems like everyone holds hands and everything is absolutely wonderful. There is the love, the kissing, the idea that everything is so very perfect and then the little cracks start to really appear. The girl loves romantic movies and the guy loves action movies. There is a degree of anger when they spend the night over who squeezes the toothpaste a certain way.

One wild card about relationships is the physical chemistry. I know that sex is not really the determining factor in relationships but still it plays a major role. Is the man a 60 minute ironman? Is the girl good or an ice queen? There is something about that brief but endless moment that can change the relationship in an instant. Of course if you get into the whole staying together to not be alone factor you have another ten million topics of conversation.

There is no real way to figure out relationships so I say categorically RELATIONSHIPS ARE HELL!!!

LOVE AND PEACE!
