WHEN DID WE LOSE TRACK?

In this age of social media and veiled ignorance we seem to have lost track of what's important in society. The population knows more about worthless figures like Justin Bieber and Rihanna than they do about their forefathers. I know that there is such a thing as evolution but I'm fairly certain that evolution implies progress and not regression. You ask anyone a question about the current state of the economy and you'll get some stupid and unrelated answer.

The specter of pseudo intellect and feigned indifference has become a ruling force of sorts. I understand that politics much like religion are private matters but I'd say that matters that affect society are far more important than matters of celebrity. I really could care less if Rihanna wants to show her goods or if Justin Bieber is a racist punk. I guess my question is, how does any of that make us better?

WHAT YOU DON'T KNOW WILL PISS YOU OFF

I have heard this "what you don't know won't hurt you" shit too often. I have to say that's a crap thing to tell a person. Knowledge, for good or bad really is power. When you withhold truth from an individual you will never favor them. People have a serious need to know and understand truth. If you are in a relationship that particular saying is serious bullshit.

I'm not an advocate of secrets nor am I an advocate of convenient truth. Not saying something that another person should no is total crap. I hate that secret crap, I guess I had to ride a soapbox for a few sentences before stating that the truth will set you free!

THE SMALL MINDEDNESS OF ARROGANT PEOPLE

Some people really surprise me, mainly because the narrow scope of their mind doesn't allow them to see their own glaring imperfections. I see that as a manner of arrogance and I just abhor it. People will lift their chin up and act like such assholes some time. It's sad to think that some individuals don't have it in them to be normal, not necessarily humble, just normal.

I know a few people like that, people whose idea of success is plain, stupid arrogance. The funny thing about arrogance is that it's also a blinding agent. When you become arrogant you become tunneled by your own stupidity you tend to lose sigh of what's around you, both good and bad.

My simple advice to people like that is " Keep your eyes open." When something special comes around you may miss it and when your foundation crumbles beneath you, you will not be able to repair it.

SOME PEOPLE ARE REAL SHIT

I detest nosy people, I think because they are extremely unhappy. I have never been a nosy individual because I respect others. I think nosiness is a sign of a deeper problem. Nosy people tend to also be controlling and incredibly mercurial. I have known a few nosy fuckers in my life and honestly, my hated for them knows no bounds. I don't know why I feel like I do, maybe it's because I live and let live. Live and let live people, live and let live.

I LOVE PSEUDO INTELLECTUALS

To me reading is a joy, because it often times allows me the luxury of learning things I was not previously aware of. I like to learn from people whom I feel have something to teach me, and I think almost everyone has something of a lesson they can teach others. I want to emphasize almost, because there is always a group of people that have nothing but shit to impart. I am sure you are likely wondering what I am talking about, and I shall now expound.

There are often times people who think that their opinion is the only one that counts. I am talking of course about people that love to talk about the lack of reality in reality, the true ills of ambition, the prostitution of society by technology, the ills of modern medicine, and the necessity to bathe naked in the cleansing waters of a dirty, amoeba filled lake. If you don't get the sarcasm then you are one of them, a pseudo intellectual.

I find it easy to spot pseudo intellectuals, they look at you in a manner that spells their indifferent superiority and superior lack of real confidence. A pseudo intellectual will likely mix Nietzche with Sheldon Cooper and talk about atheism being a manner of scientific belief on the gods of science. Yes I love the pseudo intellectuals because they entertain me. A pseudo intellectual will find over 100 explanations to one lie, and over 100 answers to a yes or no question. A pseudo intellectual is a lot like stepping on dog shit, you know you hate it but somehow it makes you laugh.

A lot of times pseudo intellectuals come about as the result of youth without experience or praise without real merit. College, books, retention without understanding, and bullshit, will never give you practical intellect or common sense. True gifts do not come from unproven ideas, and nonsense, and certainly have no relation to veganism and under arm hair. I am not saying that vegans are pseudo intellectuals but I am stating that a lot of pseudo intellectuals are vegans. Perhaps I am tired of every hippy wannabe assuming that they know life when truly the know very little about a whole lot.

The world needs clowns and fools and who better to entertain us than the pseudo intellectuals who, like clowns, are truly just sad individuals crying soulful, interior tears stemming from fear.

THE UNCANNY POWERS OF A SIMPLE MIND

I am sure you're wondering how the picture above relates to the title of this entry and the answer to that is that it doesn't. The picture made me smile which is why I chose it and I am sure it does the same for you. This is an entry about the simple minded, or as they are known in some circles, the very stupid. How do you define stupidity? One definition for stupidity is " A poor ability to learn or profit from experience." I don't like the word stupidity because it's kind of mean, I prefer simple minded.

The thing is that I admire simple minded people because in some ways they have an easier path to inner peace than people with greater cognitive abilities. The very simple minded do not see every possible complication with daily life. A simple minded person often sticks to one particular source of strength to solve their problems. The simple minded individual believes in miracles and often has a misguided and somewhat annoying view of spirituality.

Spirituality has a million definitions for a million people but for the simple minded it usually means " God will solve my problems because the bible said so." I respect other's right to believe but with the simple minded it's almost innocent and childlike. A simple minded person often sticks to one goal and pursues it blindly without any shame whatsoever, to a stoner a simple minded individual is likely to be the equivalent of a chasm.

The very simple minded can almost seem wise in their very simple approach to life. We are all so complicated by nature that making a situation simple almost seems like the act of a wise man or woman.  If you look at a chimpanzee the first thing you think is " this is a monkey" and a monkey is a simple, strong, agile creature. When the monkey does something like identify a circle we all clap without realizing it was a simple act. The human race is full of chimpanzee like creatures that can identify a circle without necessarily having to talk circumference, radius and all that jazz. We chastise the simple for being below par but we really envy them.

It's fair to assume that even the minimalist philosopher is searching for the peace that comes with a perennially blank slate. The simple mind seems to almost extend life, and no, I'm not saying that old people are stupid. Next time you want to criticize the simple remember that you are criticizing the beauty of a calm spirit and yearning for that very sensation.

POLITICAL CORRECTNESS IS BULLSHIT

I am writing what it is everyone is thinking. Political correctness is total bullshit no matter how you cut it. I think that the idea has become so big in society today that we have lost sight of the difference between being correct in expression and being ridiculous. It's one thing to be a racist, color your statements about things with ignorant remarks, and another to actually express your feelings without the feeling of boundaries cornering you. Today the PC bullshit has taken a turn for the insane in ways that are both amusing and annoying.

You can't refer to someone as a midget, or refer to a tall person in a way that may make fun of their height. The word ho is automatically associated with calling a female a prostitute. You can't say black out loud for fear that the mere mention of color may make someone mad. No one in this world is perfect and if you are not intentionally trying to offend a person I think society needs to have some fucking leniency. I don't understand why a person should be allowed to press assault charges if I tell them to go fuck themselves. Do you know that Ho is actually an acronym with several different meanings?

I am not saying that it's okay to insult people but I will say that if someone pushes the wrong buttons they deserve to be told exactly they can do regardless of race, creed, color or gender. I don't care if a catholic priest decides he wants to judge me because I can proceed to ask said priest why there are so many pedophiles at the helm of the church. I know you are wondering where this is coming from when I just wrote about the universal force of love.

I am honest enough and have enough common sense to distinguish between reality and serious bullshit. I am not saying for people to go out and act like total assholes I am just saying that common sense in expression is not something that should be hindered by the thought of overly sensitive people taking offense to every little statement made.

DOWN SYNDROME IS ALSO REAL HONESTY

Down syndrome is often looked at by the massively ignorant as a handicap. I understand that there are serious limitations that hamper the possibility of a thoroughly independent life for those with down syndrome. I do have to say that people show a thorough lack of understanding in terms of the full scope of down syndrome when they talk about all the so called negative aspects of it.

I recently had a chance to interact with a boy that has down syndrome. The boy was an inspiration to me. Due to health issues as a child he did not have fully developed speech but he did look like he could play any sport with the greatest of ease and skill. The boy was loving, respectful, honest, and extremely well behaved. There was something more about this boy that really stuck out to me and that was the purity of his spirit.

Whenever I interacted with this boy he would ask me to see what he was doing as a way to share with me. I remember him illustrating what he was doing and how he was doing it. To this boy there was a beauty in even the simplest things. We can learn from people with down syndrome about so many things. A kid with down syndrome does not have an affliction but a way to appreciate the beauty of simplicity, love without lies and hypocrisy. I respect and revere people with down syndrome not because of what they deal with but because of the grace they overcome it with.
