A KISS IN BRAZIL

The tragedy that took place in Brazil's Kiss nightclub is one that makes me question what the hell goes through people's minds sometimes. I read in the news that there were some 1300 patrons at the club during a concert. I was further shocked when I read that no safety codes were at all enforced in this particular venue. Given the lack of observation of said codes it's incredible to think that the band would be allowed to have a pyro machine that would deploy in a place where there were no emergency exits or even fire extinguishers.

As news keep coming out with regards to this tragedy it's also coming to light that safety codes are rarely ever observed in these venues in Brazil. A lot of nightclubs fail to put a limit on the number of people that are allowed in. I think it's totally screwed up that people have to die just to get in to a club. My view on clubs is simple and that is if you have seen one you have seen them all. Loud music, drinks, and the occasional grind don't really mean that much that a person should lose their lives.

I won't bash Brazil because things like that have happened here in the states as well but the fact is that 231 people died in a tragedy that could have been averted. In the end this was greed, ignorance, and an enormous lack of common sense all coming together for a tragic meeting. 30 days of mourning in Brazil will not bring anyone back but real action in enforcing health and safety codes will likely keep something like this from happening again, at least on such a major and tragic scale.
