RODMAN: THE ART OF WORM DIPLOMACY
Dennis Rodman is starting to really just piss me off. The guy talks shit like there is no tomorrow in his attempt at worm diplomacy. Since this guy went to North Korea he has been talking endlessly about how North Korea does not really have the desire to go to war with the US. What exactly makes Rodman an expert on foreign policy? I can respect his simplistic view on how things should be done but I think Rodman is forgetting a few things. There is an enormous amount of red tape that accompanies politics and I seriously doubt that Kim Jong Un is really going to listen to Rodman when it comes to matters of international diplomacy.
Rodman is now attacking Obama and frankly this is the part that bothers me. I think that it's commendable that he is trying to go back to North Korea in order to help free Kenneth Bae but the way he's going about it he's coming off like a total jackass. The fact that he talks to Kim Jong Un doesn't mean that Un is willing to do him a solid which would in turn into a PR nightmare for him. Rodman may have the right idea but this is more complicated because there are politics involved. Un has his advisors and they will voice whatever they need to voice in order to Keep North Korea's image as a badass military regime.
Rodman should try subtle instead of making every possible move into a media spectacle because this isn't the type of situation that calls for his press whore brand of entertainment.

NORTH KOREA
Every time I look at a picture of Kim Jong Un he reminds me of a child that looks blankly into the heavens after being told that he cannot have an ice cream cone because of his pre disposition to diabetes. I read recently that North Korea has made it clear that they won't hesitate to launch one of their 1950's missiles if or when necessary. The problem with North Korea as I see it is that they are a lot like a dog that looks nice but you know he will bite you if you go near its tail.
I think North Korea is a serious threat just by virtue of the fact that they are so vocal about kicking ass on a nuclear world wide scale but I also believe that Kim Jong Un is not really the power behind the throne. King Jong Un is an example of a kid that was cast into an incredibly difficult situation by a zealous father trying to create a legacy in the same manner that a constipated man tries to create acceptable stool samples. Kim Jong Un looks more comfortable watching a game with Dennis Rodman than standing in front of a bunch of Generals in his unflattering outfit that I am assuming was designed by his father at some point during the great polyester shortage of 1979.
I think the real tragedy here is that this kid is lost in a world where bad decisions are encouraged as a WWDD or What would dad do? I wonder how a 30 year old man is capable of really truly leading a nation when his only real qualification is being the owner's kid. I assume that things will only get dimmer and dimmer and that eventually one of his "uncles" will sit him on a rocket and watch him fly straight into the sun.

THE WORM DOES NORTH KOREA
Dennis Rodman's visit to North Korea has sparked some serious moral outrage given his defense of Kim Jong Un whom he now refers to as a "friend." Everyone in the media has attacked Rodman because he has chosen to label the injustices in North Korea as simply "politics" that he does not agree with. I think that this whole situation should be put into some real perspective.
No one in the media seems to understand that this is Dennis Rodman. Dennis Rodman does not have the relevance of a Muhammad Ali or anyone else that has chosen to use merit and stature as a means to engage in diplomacy and goodwill. Does anyone remember the wedding dress? Does anyone remember "Bad as I Wannabe"? Yes Rodman was a huge star with five championship rings but we are not talking about a Michael Jordan or someone whose achievements stand out as almost singular. I like Rodman and I think his personality made him unique on the court but his actions outside the court in a global aspect do not really call my attention.
The media understandably feels a need to chastise Rodman because he seems to be employing a tremendous lack of depth. I wonder if the media understands that Rodman is not a Rhodes Scholar. Rodman went to North Korea to have a good time and not to engage in shuttle diplomacy. I am certain that the North Korean government did not take the visit from Rodman as a sign of US approval for their policy on human rights or nuclear arms.
The media needs to really chill out before continuing to make this story something so relevant that we end up looking like a country that takes the opinions of a washed up sports ex athlete as if they were policy gold.
