THE SECRECY IS MIND BOGGLING

If you ever watched the TV show X Files chances are that your inner conspiracy theorist was indulged thoroughly. I have to wonder though if it's really that far off. I was watching a show on MILITARY television and I was blown away by the way government works down to the most minute detail. The first half of the show was dedicated to the Doomsday plane, existing for the purpose of saving the President and senior members of congress in case of a tragedy.

In a way yes it gives people a feeling of safety that in case of an eventual mass tragedy government can restore functions through other mediums. As the show went on it spoke of the top secret facility known as Mt Weather and it's basically the White House underground. The big issue is all the secrecy, yes I understand not a lot can be revealed but it does make you wonder how much exactly is being hidden.

We live in a secretive society where the big thing is " What they don't know won't hurt them." Secrecy is in some ways what supposedly guards democracy. Are the secrets limited though? Does knowing everything about everyone come in that package? I guess it's in the name of democracy, still it's mind boggling.

NO ONE WILL EVER REALLY AGREE ON POLITICS, SO WHY FIGHT ABOUT IT?

It doesn't matter if you are democrat or republican, it doesn't matter if you are in the same party. People tend to disagree when it comes to politics. Two democrats may disagree on gay marriage but have the same views on the death penalty. Politics are subjective to what you want and believe as an individual. We fight, we disagree, but we are not policy makers. Why in the hell do we have to fight about it?

I have fallen victim to that a couple of times and honestly I don't care for it. We end up in arguments over issues that we can't do a damn thing about. Yes we can disagree but disagreements seem to turn into fights way to quickly.

TO BE AN EXTREMIST IS TO BE AN IDIOT

I don't care for extremists, they really piss me off. I can have a disagreement with a person but I don't have to insult that person as a result of our disagreement. I was called a drone today as a result of an extremist's view being totally opposite of my own. I like to consider myself a moderate individual but if there's anything I hate more than a jackass it's an extremist.

THE POLITICS OF LIFE

Politics is a nasty word with controversial connotations. When you think politics you think democrat vs. republican and extreme positions colliding. Politics is also a word applicable to life. It's amazing how people with ego driven agendas employ politics. Politics are a nasty business whether you make money off them or not.

I have found myself situations where politics rule and very often they make me smile. To me politics are the lowest common denominator in life. People use politics as a way to stand above and over others, it's almost like politics are a way to point a finger that spews salt into open wounds. I hate politics and more than hate tapioca pudding, and I really hate tapioca pudding.

In short this entry is my rant against a nasty practice and behavior. I hate politics but it seems like politics are necessary in this life, like the ying to the yang, good to evil, some sort of bullshit like that. In short it's my way of saying fuck politics.

SO HERE WE ARE AGAIN

We look back at the closure of the US government and we can safely say that not a single thing has changed. Let's look at this from a simplistic perspective:

• The affordable care act is still a troubled piece of legislation 
• The site for insurance exchanges has been a joke
• The parties are still pointing fingers without really doing a damn thing
• The medical device tax will likely bring forth a wrath of special interest battles

So, to sum it all up we got screwed as a nation for 16 days with nothing to show for it. I remember hearing a zealous conservative say it was a liberal thing while also watching liberals say it was a conservative thing. Let's face facts for a minute, liberals and conservatives are not working for anything other than their own legacies, the constituency always comes last. 

A few years ago I read a book that was written by Samuel Pettengill, who served in the US congress for 8 years during the great division. I remember his book Smoke Screen was an insider's view into Washington politics and essentially served as the counterpoint to The New Deal. If we look at the Affordable Care Act, it's really the med version of the new deal. 

It doesn't matter if you are for it or if you are against it, it's the law of the land. This law like any other law requires expenditures and said expenditures have to come from forms of taxation we as a nation may not agree with. In the end if it works or if it doesn't is going to depend on fund allocation and proper execution. The fact is that politicians could care less, they want the ability to cater to someone in order to have fall back money because the hundreds of thousands that they make every year is not enough. 

Obama was a community organizer and is now a millionaire like every other US president to come around. It doesn't matter what you think, opinions of the masses are unimportant at this point. The Affordable Care Act will likely stick around and present problems like the insurance exchanges site, for one. It's time we wake up, smell the coffee and realize that are interests are not that important to our 535 legislators. 

OKAY THEN

I get these little news headlines on my iPhone because I like to be informed. I don't quite get why I'm still interested in government news because honestly this whole fiasco has become a joke. At this point both democrats and republicans are acting like idiots trying to figure out who gets the better share of the tang.

I read briefly that now conservatives are looking at a possible momentary increase to the debt ceiling in order to avoid default. I am disgusted by this because honestly the nation's problems cannot e solved momentarily. What about the shutdown? Perhaps I read this all too briefly and maybe my facts are wrong. The one thing I am going to say is that this government is not for the people, not anymore and no one can convince me otherwise. 

Democrats are as much to blame as republicans for what's happening. Obama did nothing of value when he had a supermajority in Senate and Democrats controlled the house. The affordable care act could have been passed, tuned, and made to help the citizens and not be used as a way to fuck the US. 

I guess I'm just trying to say, fuck temporary and do what you were elected to do.

THE DAY OUR ECONOMY BECAME THE PROSTITUTE WITHOUT CLIENTS

I was recently in Amsterdam and while attending an exhibition of Federico Fellini's work at the EYE Museum and I was treated to some clips from Roma. I thought this film was an example of what abstract visual art is really all about. The film had a little bit of everything and it really spoke to the time it was released. The film was released in 1972, a period when there was so much much turmoil still and when the world was suffering a shock in terms of its transition from peace to unadulterated sex. If you've read this far I am certain you are asking yourself " What does this have to do with US economy issues? " Please let me get there before you get all ADD on me.

The film, if I recall accurately, had some prostitutes that looked like they were past their prime. What I think of our economy is that it has become that prostitute. Republicans are the pimps and democrats are the johns. What's funny about this is that if you think I'm complimenting democrats, I am not. I am saying they won't throw the whore a bone by opening a discussion to at least avoid what's going on. I'm also not complementing republicans, I am saying republicans are like a pimp with no whores except for the one with the saggy 70's cleavage.

Please republicans and democrats, let that hooker and let her freak flag fly.

ANN COULTER IS WHAT'S WRONG WITH AMERICA

Ann Coulter is nothing more than a loud, moronic, bitch that needs to be silenced. The ultra conservative super bitch is constantly using words like "demographics" to basically claim that gun violence in the US, along with other pressing issues, is due more to race than anything else. I think those are the words of a truly ignorant individual. It's been established that guns don't kill people, people with guns kill other people. I think it's also fair to say that having emotional problems is not limited to Blacks, Hispanics, or Asians for that matter. In other words, any person no matter race, creed, or color, can pick up a gun and commit a crime just like Adam Lanza.

What bothers me about this woman is that she wants to turn everything into a Conservative vs. Liberal deal and really it isn't. If we were to look at what "Liberals" have done we should examine who created the New Deal, which did help the US get out of a crippling and quite lengthy depression. If you don't know what I am referring to then by all means feel free to Google it. I am deeply troubled by the fact  that while we have an African American President in office we still have ridiculous figures like Ann Coulter pushing that racial button through major media platforms.

This is not 1950 and society has evolved and a line needs to be drawn somewhere. I would rather censorship be applied to racially charged bullshit than words like bitch, or asshole. This is the woman that referred to our President as a retard and said that retard was not an offensive word. I think this woman is a complete imbecile that should spend sometime in an institution for the chronically stupid. If you can't tell by now I have no respect for her because she is part of the problem we have in the US.

Yes we do have free speech but I don't recall reading anything in the constitution about hate speech and constantly trying to create tension by stating absurd and impossible to believe or prove "facts."  I will go so far as to say that living conditions can play a part in a person's choices but that is not necessarily always the case. If you are thinking that free speech applies to hate speech let me say one thing, free speech is designed for a flow of ideas and productive conversation in order to arrive at a positive conclusion in spite of ideological disagreement.

I am almost completely certain that our founding fathers did not agree on everything but they were united by the consensus of a country free from the concept and in turn control of British colonization and ideology. To make this less complicated, don't cross lines just because all you are capable of seeing is colors and not substance.

FINALLY, SOME QUIET

I am not writing this to push political buttons so if you are a die hard republican ardent democrat, or heat seeking jackass you should stop reading right now. I am glad that Sarah Palin is out of Fox news because her being there was the equivalent of a 4 year old being handed the controls to a weapon of mass destruction. Sarah Palin was and will forever remain a vivid examples of what politics has become, a popularity contest designed for looks and skilled liars.

We need to face a clear fact that society is cyclical in nature and that cycle includes progress, pockets of war and peace and gridlock. I think it doesn't help that cycle to have a woman whose inability to string two sentences together is so obvious that she serves more as the comic relief cougar MILF than as a credible figure that once provided leadership. It makes it nearly impossible for the existence of harmonious disagreement when you have a talking head like Palin giving incendiary opinions on a network know for radical conservative views. It's a step in the right direction to take Palin the hell out of the airwaves for the time being.

Personally I hope that Sarah Palin stays in the Tundra from whence she came and just continues to hunt for the bears that brutalized Ms. Goldi Locks.
